Road Rage is Likely to Increase During Warmer Weather Roswell, GA
two cars in a traffic accident

Psychologists have long held that violent actions increase during hotter weather. Numerous studies have been conducted on the subject, including a 1984 experiment that centered on a research confederate holding up traffic at a 12-second green light.

The amount of time that other drivers spent honking in protest was compared over a period between April and August in Phoenix, Arizona. Temperatures between 86° F and 116° F were recorded from coolest to hottest, providing the researchers with a metric for comparison.

As predicted, tempers flared on the days when temperatures peaked at the highest point, with drivers more likely to exercise restraint on cooler days. This and other similar experiments have consistently shown that drivers are significantly more likely to act aggressively or violently during hot summers.

Road Rage Injuries

Whether you have suffered injuries as the result of a road rage attack or the reckless behavior of another driver, you may have grounds for pursuing compensation. Regardless of how hot it gets out there, road users have a responsibility to act in a responsible and safe manner.

Road rage incidents are often the result of the offending party feeling cranky or on edge, and heat is often cited as the main trigger. However, you have the right to expect safety and courtesy as you travel on Georgia’s highways and byways.

While summer weather may offer somewhat of an explanation for the behavior of other drivers, it does not exonerate them of responsibility in the eyes of the law. Injuries in a motor vehicle accident can lead to significant pain and suffering. You will have medical costs, loss of earnings and much more to deal with due to the harmful actions of the at-fault driver.
